Silence is golden

Ok.  So maybe not.  :P

I've taken up the crazy.  Hopefully the stuff MathMan set up works, cause he's asleep and I don't know what I'm doing.  But this *should* update with my progress.

Meme-licious

I've blatantly stolen this one from Selana, cause it looked like fun.  And since this is my first post of the new year - Happy New Year!!

The game goes like this:

1. Grab your iPod or other MP3 player and randomize your songs.
2. Type the first line/phrase of the first 20-40 songs that come up (you can skip one if the first line is, say, the actual title of the song).
3. Anyone can try and guess the title of the song by commenting on this note.
4. When the title has been guessed, bold out the lyric and add the name of the person who guessed it.
5. NO cheating by using search engines to find answers.

Start:

1.  Through the rise and fall
2.  Over sea under stone I will find myself alone
3.  I can only give you love that lasts forever
4.  I love the time and in between
5.  Day after day I'll always love you
6.  I know the sickening thoughts that slither around your head
7.  E saw miny briddes seten on a tree
8.  A cross upon her bedroom wall
9.  One might see in Mina my disease but it is she who has infected me for all eternity
10. Yellow bird flying gets shot in the wing
11. Oh you get me ready in your 56 chevy
12. You're not ready for the world outside
13. Oh, baby you're young but that's ok
14. Baby you're dada loves you
15. The songwriter's dead
16. Here comes Johnny singing oldies, goldies
17. Its still getting worse after everything I tried
18. She said she needed a break, a little time to think
19. You're attention please.  Now turn off the light
20. Swingin' on the front porch
21. How lucky can one guy be?
22. Lying in the bed I hear the clock tick and think of you  - Cyndi Lauper "Time After Time"
23. Well there is no such thing as you
24. Waking in a sweat forsaking pleasures for regret
25. There's always the diamond friendly
26. I don't know where I'm going but I sure know where I've been  - Whitesnake "Here I Go Again"
27. So I ran faster
28. Those fingers in my hair
29. Last day of the rest of my life .D.
30. When I come to terms, to terms with this
31. Checkmate, honey, beat you at your own damn game
32. Sometimes I feel I've got to run away
33. On the first part of the journey
34. Some folks are born made to wave the flag
35. I know we got some history we got some issues that we need to solve
36. If you ever get close to a human and human behaviour
37. I was sent to outer space to find another happy place
38. Johnny thinks that prozac can help him out a bit
39. Here we go vertigo video vertigo
40. It's the sad story about a deer and a man

(Alright, I went a little overboard, but it was fun!  I was a little liberal with the use of the "skip" button, partly because I have a lot of instrumental-type songs, and partly because my iPod is where I store MissV's car music, so these are all songs I freely listen to rather than the ones a toddler forces upon me.  Also?  I never realized how eclectic is the stuff I listen to!)

Holiday travel crazy time

So, it's 8:45, I have to be up at 5am tomorrow morning to be at the airport in time.  We're flying to the in-laws for five days.  Will someone please shoot me?  In the head?  See, my mother in-law is...well, odd.  She has her whole house wired for music - which would be awesome - except she listens to some gawd-awful stuff.  Coming from me, that's a big statement, cause my music taste is varied and eclectic.  There's little I don't like, and I personally have and enjoy albums from almost every genre (and sub-genre.)  Over the holidays, she likes to play christmas music - 24/7.  Get up in the middle of the night to go to the loo?  Christmas music.  Eating breakfast/lunch/dinner?  Christmas music.  Trying to hide in a dark room to get rid of a music headache?  Christmas music.  I make a point not to shop at stores that play christmas music (at least during the offensive time) because I can't stand it.  If I want to listen to it, I'll pop on a CD myself, but don't force feed it to me like that.  You'll get an unhappy reaction. Anyway, my MIL doesn't just listen to christmas music, she listens to *bad* christmas music.  "A Barbara Streisand Christmas" and "Barry Manilow Does Santa", stuff like that.  UGH.  I was excited since this year when we go, I finally have an iPod (and it's loaded with tons of good stuff, too.)  Only, my iPod's headphone jack went and broke on me - no more headphones with that unit.  Goody me.  So, to keep from going completely batshit insane (STOP THE CHRISTMAS MUSIC AFTER CHRISTMAS IS OVER!!!) I'm commandeering my daughter's little 2Gb Creative MuVo.  Sadly, half my music is from the iTunes store, so I won't be able to load it, but I do have some CDs I can burn onto it.  Better than nothing, right?
I'm also going to be bringing knitting (of course.)  I have next to nothing on the needles that doesn't require almost constant chart reading or high attention span, so I'm going to be winding a ball of sock yarn as well tonight.  Stockinette in the round will help distract me enough to keep from stabbing someone...possibly myself.  In the ears.  Since it's 9pm now, I should go hop to so I can get up in time.

ps - Just remembered:  We've had these airline tickets for about 6 months now.  Delta called two weeks ago telling us they no longer have direct flights to *anywhere* (except Atlanta) so we now have to fly across the country to Atlanta, de-plane and stand in line to board the *SAME PLANE* to fly back across the country.  What was a 5 hour flight?  Now 11 hours.  With a two year old and no time to get lunch.  Goody me.  Next time?  We fly Southwest.  It means a 45 minute longer drive, but it's worth it for the price, service (the CSA were rude, unintelligable, and not knowledageable) and the speed.  Don't fly Delta.

Color Meme

Your rainbow is intensely shaded orange, green, and violet.

What is says about you: You are a strong person. You feel strong ties to nature and your mood changes with its cycles. Those around you admire your fresh outlook and vitality. You are patient and will keep trying to understand something until you've mastered it.

Find the colors of your rainbow at spacefem.com.

I was expecting a shade of grey rainbow...seems more apt to me, but the description is spot on.

Oh, and though it be late - happy turkey and capitalist pig days to all who celebrated!  Hope they were good.

I promise this is the last of the Dani for a while. I may make more icons, but then again, I may have gotten it out of my system. I need to pick one to be my "Duz this offend you? O, Iz sorrie biatch" icon for Ravelry - something not *too* nasty, but something "in-yo-face!!"  (hmm..methinks this rav "I hate your icon" thing has really gotten under my skin.)

Writer's Block: On Base

The World Series begins today, meaning balls will be hit, bases run, and homeruns scored. Remember the first time you got to first base? What was it like?

This is what happens

I got bored last night. I had no internet. Someone had gotten my BP up earlier with "offensive icons" talk. So I made icons. I am the HELLWENCH!!! (Thanks, greenwillow!) (Oh, and I only had the three base pictures to work with.)

What the heck!?

It's 11:30 pm.  I'm holding needles and *silk*, but all I want to do is listen to CoF and stare at the computer screen looking for signs of life.  What is up with me lately.

Though not *every* word....

I'm officially finished with House of Leaves.  It's the first book I've ever consulted the Wiki on.  Now, I'm going to go dig out my Poe album and look for the parallels.

Totally not PC, but funny!

So, kidlet was watching some Disney this afternoon while I was making lunch, and Higglytown Heroes comes on.  MathMan comes downstairs and starts watching with her (he's telecommuting today.)  Well, a few minutes into it, he just starts laughing and tells me "They must be Mormons - every time they need a new person they just pop one out!"  Totally not pc, but it was hilarious!  (IT's a pretty messed up show...I don't think MissV will be watching it again.)

Holy Long Post, Batman!!!

So, how goes this blogging thing again?  Oh, yeah, I remember.  I always write the best posts in my head, usually when I'm driving, or waiting in queue at the store.  In other words, when I can't actually blog.

"My.  Little.  Pony"
"This is a sack full of eels and coathangers"

When you see this, post a random quicky MM exclamation in your lj.
(I couldn't chose - he says them both in the same conversation, and I just *had* to watch the episode to get the quote right!)

Do you know that this is about the only clip I can find *anywhere* of Jamie in his great kilt shot full length? All the rest are waist up, lost, or a glimpse so fleeting it's near impossible to see. It's kind of hard to do a costume study like that!
Also? I'm so not a fan of slash, but I love this vid. Mostly because it's done well, and I love the song. Never heard of the group before, but that's changed now!

Traveling!Doctor Passalong

Isn't he cute??  [info]snuffykin does *great* patterns.  Well, this guy has a TARDIS now, as you can see.  And what do the Doctor and his TARDIS do?  Travel, of course!  I've started a "passalong" (like a swap only linear) over here.  (It's a Rav link, and if you're not on Rav yet, what rock have you been under???)

I'm being random again

New Knitty is up today...let's see what I'm going to *have* to knit...of course, I prolly won't be able to see until tomorrow or so. It's always so overloaded the day it goes live.

Wow, did I ever get chatty today. Cut for friends page sanity. )

A small note

Did I ever mention that I'm not so much savvy with the LJ-etiquette?  Cause I'm not.  That doesn't mean I'm *trying* to step on anyone's toes, I just don't get it most time.  And the terminology?  Goes *right* over my head most days.  Don't even ask how long it took me to figure out "flist."  That being said, my policy on "friending" is sure - go ahead and friend away.  I may not friend back, as I tend to lock the posts I don't want the whole world to see.  But if you have similar interests and start up interaction with me, I'll probably stick you in my list, too.

And to the fellow 505-er who asked, but who I don't know how to respond to - sure.  Friend away!  ;)  You're already a Who-vian, and if you're not a knitter yet, well, I'll be happy to work on changing that!  (I share my obsessions, after all.)

Writer's Block: Your Favorite Series: One Last Go Round

If you could pick any TV show that has been off the air to come back for one more season, which show would you pick and why?

Normally, I ignore the writer's block questions, but this one intrigued me.  Firefly crossed my mind, but since it had a movie, it managed an end to the story arc.  Granted, it was a *great* show, but there are others out there that were left dangling.  An oldie that I loved was My So Called Life, the one with Claire Danes?  How could they just end it with her finding out that Brian was the one writing all the beautiful letters?  It was so Cyrano De Bergerac, but without *any* ending, tragic or otherwise.  Buffy?  While it would have been fun to explore the "every potential is a slayer now" thing, as well as the "what do I do now" thing, it had a good ending.  Angel I never really watched (except when Spike showed up.)  Doctor Who is still going strong after, well, forever.  The new Terminator show got renewed, and Monk is still on.  So, my answer would have to be Moonlight.  Hot aussie, vampire storyline, and only one season?  The season ending wrapped up things alright, but also had a decent cliffhanger, too.  The letter writing campaign didn't work, and pitching it to other networks failed too.  I miss my Friday night eye candy.

More Who thoughts, and a few other things too

Also - I've gotten a copy of House of Leaves.  I'm interested to read it, but unfortunately I don't have the time to read like I used to, so it's gonna be slow.  I'm apprehensive.  It's been years since I've read anything other than fantasy, make that really years since I've gotten to read anything.  I've been audiobooking it lately, and going for the things I normally wouldn't read myself if it's well narrated.  (Btw - the Amelia Peabody series narrated by Barbara Rosenblat ROCKS.)
Final thing - I colored my hair today.  :)  All ready to head off on my mini-vacation sans kiddo!
